Out of town...
I realised that blogging has become a once in a month occurence... Those who read keep asking why i bother to keep the blog since i dun update... dunno... just lazy to start writing... I foresee this to be a long post since it documents the monthly happenings...Ok... i am officially out of town... on student exchange to China... quite a cool place... both figuratively and literally... generally the people here are very friendly... especially the people here at the hostel... super helpful... i shall elaborate on that later... Since I don't really know my way around here the first few days... i tend to ask for directions quite frequently... most people are very eager to help... some people are so ardent that even when i told them i don't understand what they are saying… they continued giving directions in some unknown tongue…quite amusing…
Perhaps I should give a summary of some of the more interesting things or stuff that is worth highlighting… I realized as the days drag on, I will have more and more stuff to add on… so better write down while I can remember….
1. Toilet episode…
This is one that spans 3 weeks. The first day I was here I found the toilet ceiling leaking…I don’t really want to know what was the stuff that was dripping down, just hope that the pipe could get repaired soon. So I reported the leak and they assured me they would repair it the next day after they examined the ceiling… Great… this marked the start of a week’s worth of bathing at my fren’s room… so sorry to trouble her and her toilet…Thanks ming… In the next couple of weeks, I was always in for surprises…. Firstly, I came back to find part of my toilet ceiling missing… there was a big dark hole revealing the pipe above…. I assumed they were at least patching up the hole on the pipe and will eventually fix the ceiling… ming and zinc told me to be careful in case ninja turtles jump down from the ceiling when I am inside….I applaud their imagination and that was really helpful… When I thought my toilet was finally usable after putting it on probation for a couple of days…the dripping began again… how infuriating… then it became fixing, leaking, fixing, leaking… the last straw…. the whole incident was really grating on my nerves… imagine having to knock on other people’s door to borrow the toilet all the time when you have one in the room…how ironic…Finally one day they decided to replace the part of the pipe that was leaking rather than just covering it with cement… IT WORKED… But as I was indulging in the bliss of having a functional toilet in my room, I found a new leaking spot…. and the process repeats… Now at least both spots are not leaking anymore… I think I should just hope for the best and pray that the person staying in the room above me hates bathing…
2. A series of unfortunate events…
I think I am super accident prone… my bed has a permanent depression in the middle for some unknown reason… laptop charger started to rebel and stopped functioning… falling off steps…keeping an important receipt in pocket of jeans and washing it even when my friends specifically warned me about the possibility of that happening (zinc calls me a 番薯 because of that)… mistaking a 50 cent note for 5 dollars…not being able to find fullscape paper of the right size (I guess that’s trivial, haha)… ok beginning to sound whiny…guess I really forgot a lot of stuff already…shouldn’t be this short actually…haha
Maybe I should continue another day…
