Shop Shop Shop......

Recently, i realised that i can really spend a lot of money. Buying what.... Actually i am not sure too.. Nothing much at home to justify my spendings. But my pay has been depleting at an alarming speed. I have this urge to lock up the remaining of my pay and throw away the key. If not, i am sure they will leave me very soon.

I thought of other ways...like remaining at home and not going out... no temptations... no chance to spend money... but i think that reason alone is not strong enough to restrain my movements at the moment. Too bored to stay home 24/7. I will still go out shopping...

Next solution, I can go shopping with the 'discouragers'. In other words, they are people who discourage u from buying things. Normally they will only buy something if the price is really reasonable and they really like it. So they will take a very long time thinking and returning to look at the items again and again and again... People like me who sometimes just buy things that i like even if the price is a bit steep will earn frowns and naggings from them... so if i decide on something which is perhaps not needed or too expensive... they are there to serve as a deterrent. But if you go out with a 'discourager', sometimes it gets quite 'discouraging' too... cos u will find yourself and the product in question thoroughly criticised. So most prob you will end up not buying anything and so nothing to justify your effort spent shopping. You may even have sleepless nights, thinking of the things that u should have but didn't buy. But it is more dangerous to go out with an 'encourager', cos u will find yourself grounded and eating bread for lunch every day towards the end of the month.

I realised that i can categorise things that i will buy into 3 groups. The need-to-have, the want-to-have and the nice-to-have. Need-to-haves are things that are more basic and fundamentals, things you cannot do without. Want-to-haves are the things that i like but not necessarily need or maybe a more expensive or luxurious version of the need-to-haves. Nice-to-have are things that i do not require but i just like them. Want-to-have and Nice-to-have seems similar but they are not. For Want-to-haves, there is a purpose or function already in place but for Need-to-haves, i have to deliberately find a use for them. When i was younger, i only spend money on the need-to-haves. As I went onto JC, i realised that i have included the want-to-haves into my list of spendings. Now i am buying the nice-to-have things too.

Think i need a lesson or two on saving up....
